How the product works, honestly.

Product questions answered here; New Jersey process questions live in the FAQ; legal questions about your situation belong with an attorney.

How do the two accounts work?

Each spouse has their own account. One of you opens the case and invites the other by email; your spouse creates an account with that exact email address and accepts. From then on you both see the same case, the same documents, and the same history — but each of you signs only for yourself.

My spouse says they can't see the case.

Two common causes: they created their account under a different email than the one you invited, or they haven't clicked accept yet. Check the spouse card on your dashboard — it shows exactly which address was invited and whether it's still pending.

What does the DRAFT stamp on my documents mean?

Any document that hasn't been signed inside the product yet carries a DRAFT line on every page. It disappears from a document once the required signatures are in. It exists so an unfinished paper can never be mistaken for a finished one — by you or by a clerk.

Can I change an answer after signing a document?

Signing marks a document as final in your case. If something needs to change after that, update the answer — the affected document returns to needing review and signature, because a changed document is a new document. Nothing you signed is ever silently altered.

Why is a document locked?

Documents unlock in stages that mirror the court process — service papers unlock when filing papers are signed, and so on. A locked row means an earlier stage still needs answers or signatures. The dashboard's next-step card always points at the thing to do now.

How do I download our packet?

From the Court packet card on your dashboard, or the Download button on the finished screen once everything is signed. You get a zip of real PDFs: the drafted pleadings plus the official state forms filled with your answers, in filing order, with a START HERE cover sheet.

Is my Social Security number safe?

Case answers are stored server-side behind your session — never in your browser's storage. Your SSN appears on exactly one document, the Confidential Litigant Information Sheet, which the court itself keeps out of the public file.

I forgot my password.

Use 'Forgot your password?' on the sign-in page. You'll get a link that works once, for 60 minutes. The response is the same whether or not an email has an account — nobody can use the form to learn whether a spouse has an account here.

What does the readiness score mean?

The pre-flight check runs the same kinds of rules a clerk applies — completeness, consistent dates, venue, residency timing — and scores how ready your packet is. Blockers are things a court would bounce; fix them before filing. It's a checklist, not a guarantee: the court alone decides whether to accept a filing.

What happens when we disagree about an answer mid-way?

The product records what you both agree on; it can't decide anything for you. If a real disagreement appears, pause — the shared history shows exactly who changed what, and the attorney door is there when a question needs legal judgment. An agreement papered over a disagreement fails at the worst time.

Can I delete our data?

Yes — Your account page has both promises as buttons: export everything we hold as one JSON file, and delete your account. Because a case belongs to two people, a shared case survives for an active spouse and is fully erased when both of you have deleted.

The court rejected our filing. Now what?

Read the clerk's note — it says what was missing or inconsistent. Fix the issue, regenerate the affected document, and refile. If the rejection reason isn't clear or seems legal rather than clerical, that's a moment for an attorney. We also want to hear about it: every real rejection makes the pre-flight check smarter.
